Lake Leschenaultia is a beautiful and unique recreational lake nestled in the scenic bush land of Perth Hills, in the charming village of Chidlow, approximately one hour's drive east of Perth. We are proud to be able to now offer Lake Leschenaultia Campground bookings online. We have worked hard to make this an easy, safe and secure process and while we will endeavour to accommodate any special requests made on your booking (i.e. for a specific site, sites together), we are unable to provide any guarantees. We hope you enjoy your stay with us.If you have any difficulties with using our site please call (08) 9290 6645 for any help or advice.
Originally known as Chidlow's Well, Lake Leschenaultia was built in 1897 as a dam by the West Australian Government Railway to replenish the steam engines travelling to Northam, York and beyond.
Offering an abundance of water and land based activities, the "Lake" is the perfect place for a family day trip or a camping getaway, where you can swim, hire a canoe or paddle board (seasonal) for a few hours or take the 3km walk trail around the lake to explore the area on foot. You may even get to see some of the numerous species of native birds, kangaroos, possums or echidnas that live in the area. Those with extra energy can learn and practice their mountain bike skills on the pump track and then perfect them out on the new 12km mountain bike network, which is suitable for beginners and intermediate riders.
The Lake's white sandy beaches make it easy to access the calm waters where children of all ages can enjoy paddling or swimming in safety or you can make the most of the excellent picnic and free barbecue facilities on the shaded lawns or lunch at Reflections Cafe near the water's edge. This peaceful setting, surrounded by magnificent native trees and wildflowers is ideal for overnight camping and a great base from which to explore the Perth Hills.
